Counting Down Summer

So hot days returned to StL, and there’s a certain expectancy in the air as we all wait for the 100 deg of this week to turn into the 80s of next week!  Strengthened by the thought of only two more hot ones, I decided to take the girls for early morning carousel rides at the zoo, the perfect hot morning treat.

By just 9am, we were ready to break down and pay inflated prices for cold treats.  But nothing was open yet!!  We stalled a bit:

Finally…

It wasn’t even 10am, but it was seriously hot.  And did I mention I was driving them in our old, small, not air conditioned car today?  I dumped water on both their heads before we got in, but by the time I got them and the stroller in, I was about to sweat my heart right out of my chest.

I debated a cool down stop, such as last weekend :

But I couldn’t bear the thought of getting back in the car!  So home for cool showers, cool milks, and a movie.  By 11am.

It was a fun morning!  But it would have been just right if Bethany, Elijah, and Laz could have joined us.  We miss you, Robbins!
